Ultimate question

How is it that from matter has emerged (I am not using the loaded word evolved) life; consciousness; emotion; meaning; subtlety; purpose; mind; insight; poetry; ideas of the divine; goodness, beauty; truth; natural morality; and people with recognisable selves? However you answer this question, the answer (if you think there can be one) will be remarkable. If you are a believer in a Creator God that is surely the greatest fact that we could know, with huge implications. The implications are even greater if you believe in God’s reality today as someone who is interested in you and me. If you do not believe in God, you are left, in a sense, with an even greater and more remarkable mystery. I will say more about this in the days ahead.
