How evolution can enrich our understanding
Monday 22 December 2008
You can watch the late scientist and priest, Arthur Peacocke, talking about how evolution enriches our understanding of God as creator by going to

Arthur made no secret of the the fact that new perspectives of science challenge Christians to re-think the meaning and mode of expression of their insights. He acknowledged that this process can be painful as well as invigorating but the aim must always be to shape and formulate our understandings of nature, humanity and God so that they are actually credible to modern men and women.
His approach was not so much ´faith seeking understanding´ as ´understanding seeking faith´. He assumed that in public discourse both understanding and faith must proceed in their development by the application of the normal criteria for
reasonableness in order to command general assent. For anyone who is
interested in communicating the gospel to thoughtful, intelligent and
informed people (rather than folk who want to remain in the false
security of a fundamentalist and ill-informed ghetto)Peacocke´s
approach is thought-provoking and often helpful.
